According to reports, Google may be planning to announce the new Android 4.5, but not in the annual I/O conference. Sources from Dublin also say that Google executives are discussing about the release of Nexus 8 tablet and they will use it as a poster child for the new software update.
Due to the cutthroat competition in the 7-inch tablet market, it is reported that Google will soon throw the towel and abandon the reasonably popular Nexus 7 lineup. The 8-inch segment is the next hottest market, which is currently being inhabited by Apple iPad Mini, LG G Pad 8.3, Samsung Galaxy Tab PRO 8.4 and Galaxy Note 8.0. So, Google may still need to deal with the stiff competition in this market category.
This doesn’t contradict previous report that Asus will build 2 million Nexus 8 units for the first batch and they will be ready for shipping before May. Little is known about the actual hardware specs of the device, be we heard that it will be using Intel’s latest mobile processor. Also, there’s no word yet on Google’s pricing scheme for the tablet. However, we should still have enough time for additional leaks before the tablet’s possible arrival in summer.
