Touch-Optimized Microsoft Office App May Soon Arrive to the iPad

Microsoft Office App for iPadiPad users in the UK could soon get their hands on a tablet-optimized version of Microsoft Office, even before Windows device users. The app was previously expected to arrive to Windows 8.1 tablet and its touch-optimized feature will make it easier to use than the standard, full-fledged version. The Office app for iPad is internally called as the “Miramar” and Microsoft made it a priority last year. It could arrive in coming months, but Microsoft hasn’t given us a fixed release date.

With the relatively sluggish sales of its Surface tablet models, Microsoft may consider the release of Office app for the competing iPad models as a necessity to boost revenue. It’s not known how Microsoft will deploy the Office app to iPad models. There’s a possibility that users need to manage Office 365 subscription, both for Home Premium and corporate versions.

Currently, users also need an Office 365 subscription to enable the Office Mobile app on the iPhone. It’s clear that Microsoft still has major challenges in the mobile industry and addressing the dominance of Apple iPad in the tablet market is only one of them.
