Apple iPad Air Offers the Best Battery Life During Web Browsing and Video Tests

Apple iPad AirAccording to the UK-based Which? Test Lab; when it comes to battery life, Apple iPad Air consistently outperforms the competition. The battery usage test involves video and Internet uses; with Apple’s latest 9.7-inch tablet bested both the smaller Retina-capable iPad Mini and the older iPad 2, as well as competing devices released by Samsung, Google and Amazon.

The iPad Air saw nearly 11 hours or 658 minutes during the web browsing (Internet) test, while the iPad 2 lasted 590 minutes, Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 at 481 minutes, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 483 minutes and Retina-capable iPad mini 614 minutes.

The Apple iPad Air also lasted longer then the competition during the video test, achieving nearly 13 hours of continues video playback or 777 minutes to be more precise. The Kindle Fire HDX came in second position at 714 minutes, followed by Google Nexus 7 at 660 minutes.

The Retina iPad Mini scored 660 minutes and the iPad 2 has noticeably shorter battery life at 604 minutes. It appears that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is the least efficient when running video content, achieving 465 minutes. During the video test, these tablets are set 200 nits of brightness level.
